Not sure if you are ware about this yet, but Windows Defender is blocking download of Version 4 because it thinks there is a Trojan Horse Virus in the Zip file. Not sure if it's actually there but Win 8.1 is at least misrecognising the files
ReplyDeletethanks for the hard work and looking forward to using version 4 soon!
Microsoft has fixed this issue for 4.0 and 4.1a

ReplyDeleteResolved. Plugged in the speakers and it worked. Evidently it checks for speakers and errors out if it can't find them.
ReplyDeleteSorry about that Tim, I need to trap for that error and make it more friendly.
DeleteThis resolved my issue as well. Thanks Tim.
ReplyDeleteSorry to you to JJ
DeleteWe have had an issue with the recording just stopping after about an hour and a half while using manual recording, not the automatic feature. Has anyone else had this issue?
ReplyDeleteHi Bryan, I want to use KMC for the future Videos we will be using. When I open the Video player, I can only see a portion of the screen even if I open 'Show all Display settings'. Can this be made so we can expand to maximum to see all settings and control please? The programme itself is great for what we need. Look forward to any KHConf facility. Thanks Corey
ReplyDeleteHi Corey, I think I know what you are saying... :-) I ran into an issue where a machine was set for "Make it easier to read whats on your screen" was not set at 100%. Not sure if this is your issue, but you can check by going to Control Panel > Display and find this setting. If it is not at 100% please set to 100%. Logoff and log back in and try KMC video player. Let me know...
DeleteThanks
Bryan
Did this help Corey?
DeleteThanks
Bryan
Hey Bryan. This is not Corey. My name is Andy Wall. I was having the same problem that Corey had and your solution worked great. Great program!!! Thanks for all your hard work :-)
DeleteAwesome Job Bryan on this version. Video player works great and goes back to sign board when exited. The video fader works well.
ReplyDeleteI have two issues though. This player does not like to recognize our HDMI wireless broadcaster to the two screens on the podium. I can play video from an internet browser, and it works through the HDMI wireless setup and any hard wired monitors but won't push the HDMI video thru the wireless. I think it is our wireless lagging behind. As the projector in the middle of the hall has no issues. This will be resolved as we are going to hard wire HDMI cables and split to the two monitors on each side of podium.
But the sign board issue i cannot even at home on a test setup work it out. That is once you send the sign board live, it will only display on the working Kingdom Media screen. Covering up our working screen. Every change has been made to the different monitor setups. But it continues to cover our working screen. We cannot get it to display on the screens that the video feed goes to. Any ideas?
Thanks again,
Doug, Canada
Hi Doug, try going into Screen Resolution and making sure one of the drop downs is set for "Extend these displays". Drag the main screen to the left and the second display to the right. Let me know if this helped.
DeleteBryan
Is there a way to change the file paths for songs, videos, recordings? Our boot drive is a smaller SSD but I want all of the files to be stored on a separate larger disk.
ReplyDeleteHi Damian, the recordings folder is fixed to the "users" / congregations 'Music' folder, however in the Recording tab you can configue it to make a copy to an alternate folder, ie a D: drive or a cloud drive etc... You would need to delete recording ocasionally to keep your SSD from filling up. Music files I would leave on the SSD for speed of access. Video files can be saved anywhere and played from anywhere. However until I make it setable it will always point to the current default. I will make the video path stable in a future release.
DeleteThanks
Bryan
ok. Actually i just did symbolic links to get around it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have two items I cannot figure out. 1) when I attempt to record - the app crashes immediately. 2) when i try to use the remote display for an image - it worked one time successfully - but now it only displays on my primary monitor (blocking/locking me out of the software). Only a CTRL-ALT-DEL get me out of it. Videos play on the 2nd screen correctly.
so after looking at some other posts... i re-positioned the 2nd monitor (the hall displays) to the right of my 1st monitor and the "Remote Display" seems to work correctly.
DeleteOriginally.. I positioned the monitors on top of each other, as this helps keep brothers from accidentally dragging the mouse on the main hall displays.
Is KMC still crashing on record attempt?
DeleteWe have the Kingdom Media Centre installed on a laptop and it works well, serving our needs perfectly, but we are having trouble with the new video player option. When we try to Select a Video, we get the message 'no second monitor detected - continuing in test mode'. We do not have a second monitor, the video signal being relayed direct from the laptop to a projector via an HDMI cable or a wireless transmitter.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to get this to work without a second monitor?
Allan
Kalamunda, Western Australia
Allan, in your Windows settings, you should be able to select the devices connected via HDMI as your 2nd monitor. In settings you should click on the 2nd display (projector, etc) and choose the option "Extend desktop to this display". Make sure that this 2nd display is positioned to the "right" of your laptops primary display. You may need to have the video play re-detect the 2nd display depending on the order that you power everything on.
DeleteThanks Damian!
DeleteAllan,
Did this resolve your issue?
Bryan
Yes it solved the problem - thanks very much. The video player works well - video full screen on the projector and the laptop with a small view of it with all the controls. Excellent.
DeleteThanks again.
Allan
Sorry I spoke too soon! Now when we go back to the Media Centre it goes into test mode. The is because we have to unplug the HDMI for the music to play. It will play if the projector is turned on but of course we do not have it on most of the time, so the HDMI cable has to be unplugged - hence no second monitor - hence the test mode!
DeleteAny way around that one?
Allan
You should not need to disconnect the HDMI? Is that because of audio being sent out via the HDMI cable? If so you should be able to disable HDMI sound in the Windows control panel and set the default audio output to the Line/Speaker out.
DeleteThanks for the suggestion - I will have a look at that on the weekend but I have a suspicion that this will create another issue, although not a serious one. It should be fine if the video is played by the Media Centre on the laptop but if the video is played from a laptop, tablet or phone from the platform HDMI connection or the projector WIFI from a mobile device, then the sound controls will be different. Played from the back, the "music" volume control would control the sound, while the "Projector" volume control would have to be used if played from the platform or WIFI. I think that is what would happen but need to try it out. Not a major issue, just a matter of the sound control brothers getting used to having two different volume controls depending from where the video is being played.
DeleteHopefully will try it tomorrow.
Allan
Well I tried to find a setting to disable HDMI audio but cannot find it anywhere - can you direct me to where it is? There does not seem to be anything under Sound or Audio and HDMI does not even come up in search. The laptop is using Windows 10.
DeleteAny suggestions where it may be?
Allan
Sorry for the delay, we had our CA on Sunday. I will check how I have it configured on Tuesday night and let you know.
DeleteDon't worry - I found it eventually! Everything is OK now, the only difference being that volume from the sound desk laptop is controlled by the 'Music" volume control, while sound from a device connected to the HDMI on the platform (or using WIFI "Mirrorcast") is controlled by the "projector" volume control at the sound desk. Just a questions of realising there are different volume controls for the different input locations.
DeleteThanks for your help!

ReplyDeleteI have some remark (we use with hungarian language)
- the program is searching for the english version of new songs (over 135 in Song Stack), I solved this problem with a workaround, I downloaded the english versions too.
- "max song number expected" is 142 for us (H), but this setting will be overwrited to 145 at every application restart,
- pre-meeting music is not working on the installed laptop: after 1 second of every song starting, jumps to the next song (but it works on my own laptop).
Could you help me? What could be the problem?
Best Regards,
Péter
Hi Peter,
DeleteSorry for the delay in getting back to you. You can manually over ride the Max song count by entering in your number and clicking Set. And be sure to uncheck "Automatically check when KMC starts".
Is the PreMetting music skipping still an issue?
Bryan
HelO!
ReplyDeleteWe've just downloaded and installed the latest version of the program on a Win7 PC. But the recording mode does't works. The recording is starting, the program creates the file, but doesn't record any sound. Other sond recorder programs works perfectly. Do you have any suggestions?
I have seen this in a few rare instances. I have a new release 4.2 coming out in a few days that may help you. Give it a try, and if you still have the same issue send me an email at bryan@jonesworks.net to let me know the issue is still there and that you need additional help.

Dear Brother,
ReplyDeletei'm writting from France.
Thank you for your application it's wonderfull !
I have just a problem with the Remote Display. The picture is displayed on the same screen like the control window ... impossible to have it on the second screen like the video... and there is no possibility to setup this one.
Could you help me ?
Thank you
Gilles
PS 1 : Sorry for my english...i'm just a french guy lol
PS 2 : I'm also responable for the Audio-Video team for the regional convention and your software is also very interresting in this case. It will be interresting to discuss with you about that
Hi Gilles,
DeleteThe Remote Display function for Year Text and such needs to be setup in Windows as an Extend this display option. Then be sure to position onscreen the second display to the right of the main display by clicking and dragging it to the right of the main display. Hope this makes sense and is helpful.
Bryan
Dear Brother,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your program. It's GREAT! :)
We made a new Hungarian translation, because lot of message are English in this language set.
How can I send you the new excel spreadsheet?
(ps: I think, the spreadsheet on your site is not up to date, because I can't find video player's texts.)
Thank you:
David
I came across two bugs today:
ReplyDelete1) The screen size and position does not save after exit. We run KMC as a Maximized window, but KMC is not maximized when the PC is booted up for the next meeting. (by default KMC is running in a window at the full size of the desktop area with a little small portion on the second monitor - our projector - and this is not desirable. Also, Full Screen mode blocks the task bar, and for us, this is not desirable)
2) KMC Video player works great... when playing a single video. If I load a second video and play it, the second video is garbled. This does not happen, however, if the video player is closed and re-opened after playing the first video.
2b) It would be nice to have the video player remember which directory the last video file was played from. I think this would help those less savvy users.
2) It's never happened with me (Win 10)
Delete2b) Yes, it will be a nice feature. :)
(Or it would be useful, if I can create a video playlist before the meeting, like with songs.)
UPDATE: Turns out the glitch mentioned above (#2) was a conflict with the video drivers. All is working well now.
DeleteHi Jonathan, thanks for the update.
DeleteOn point 1 have made a modification to KMC 4.2 that will have a new setting to Run Maximized.
On point 2b I can apply some logic to help. I also made a change to the Video Player to stack up the 3 videos we will need to play monthly. Much like the 3 songs we use each meeting.
Regards
Bryan
Thanks for taking care of that!
DeleteWe had a new bug yesterday:
ReplyDeleteOn "Record Meeting" tab, if I set the "Copy Recordings Here", and my username contain special characters (like Dávid in Hungarian) the program cause error and exiting, when I want to play the third song.
This error also happens when I start the "Pre-meeting music" and stop it, and all song set on #1, #2 #3 slot.
If I not set the "Copy Recordings Here" chechbox, the program works well, recoding ok, and we have not any error.
I share the error massage, and the screen.
Sorry, every text are hungarian, but I hope it help to find the bug.

is there any linux versions coming out? maybe something that could run on a raspberry pi, out putting to two monitors one via the HDMI and another via the serial connector on the RP. DeleteI think I found a bug. First, though, thanks for this great program!Videos are awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhen I put songs intot he song stack, it crashes the program! Windows 10 fresh install of KMC and windows.
To clarify that, I can put the songs into the song stack, but when I play them, the program crashes. Songs play normally when chosen individually and played.
DeleteThis is the first I have heard of this kind of issue. Do you have all the songs loaded for the selected language? Can you send me a screen shot of the error message to bryan@jonesworks.net?
DeleteIf you click continue on the error message does it work?
Thanks
Bryan
It is the auto record feature, it is on by default in the latest build. Now that I have that unchecked, I am OK.
Deleteoh, ok... strange. I guess you don't have a recording device set in Windows and that was causing it to crash. I will try to replicate that.
DeleteThanks for letting me know.
Bryan
Great features in 4.2 thank you!
ReplyDeleteBut my Avast antivirus alert me, found a malware in install file (under Win 10).
Other:Malware-gen [Trj]
On Windows 7 it's installed without any problem.
Correct, see my comments on my download page about this.
DeleteBryan
Thank you!
DeleteInstallation of the latest version went without a hitch on Win 10,and the enhancements are excellent but I have issues with video playback. The video controls end up on the projected screen and the video itself on the laptop. When I make the make the projector the main monitor the desktop appears on the projector. Any idea how to change this?
ReplyDeleteThe laptop was recently set up using the Society's instructions for the VLC player (for Australia) and works well, with the VLC controls on the laptop and video only on the projector, but the video stacking ability of 4.2 appears to be a distinct advantage - if we can get the displays the right way around! Any suggestions appreciated.
Allan (Perth, Australia)
Hi Allen,
DeleteWhen the Video Player starts up, click on Show Settings, and change the Target Monitor setting to the other monitor.

Bryan
OK - Thanks, I will try that. Want to get it working if possible for tomorrow night!
DeleteAllan
Hi Bryan. Thanks, that did work - plus, because of the extended screen, I had to drag the video player back to the laptop screen.
DeleteStill getting some related issues with our setup that maybe you can clarify. I am looking for a way to be able to preselect the videos for the meeting beforehand, so that when we arrive at the hall all you have to do is open the lid of the laptop and it is ready to go.
When we do this now it shows the video player on top of a black screen on the laptop and the music player can only be accessed using Alt Tab. Then when you play the video it plays on the laptop and the projector is just black. It works OK if you close the video player own before closing the laptop but then all the videos have to be set up again. I suspect the problem is coming about because the projector is not turned on, so it does not see a second monitor. It is no big deal to have to close the video play and select the videos again - I was just hoping to avoid the scramble before the meeting to preselect the videos and test them. Any thoughts?
Allan
+1
DeleteIt will be usefull, if Video player save the video's list, while KMC running.
You have to make the display at the sound desk the "main" display in Windows.
Delete
Hi again Bryan,
DeleteThe display at the sound desk was already set as the main display in Windows.
I tried it all again but the same result: Preselect the videos and leave everything ready for the meeting then hibernate the laptop but, when restarting it, the video player sits on a black screen (not on top of the music player as it was at shutdown). Alt Tab brings the music player back, but if the projector is then turned on (shows a black screen with tiny windows icon in the corner) and the player started, it plays the video on the laptop.
As mentioned before, it works fine if the video player is shut down before hybernation and started up again, but the videos have to be all preselected again. That is what we did last night and KMC worked perfectly making for seamless transitions between parts of the program (so we certainly are NOT complaining !!!!), but if there is some way the laptop can be hibernated and maintain the music and video selections (and then play on the right screens after reactivation) it would be really great! Presumably it has something to do with the hibernation process. If you have any further suggestions they will be appreciated. Thanks for a really great program!!!
Allan
I would suggest not allowing the computer to hibernate, but just set the Screen to off after 2 or 3 hours. It should sleep the monitor after 2 or 3 hours of inactivity. Also do not shut off your HDMI distribution equipment. When that all get powered off and the computer hibernates, its like starting all over again. KMC will store the Display setting and use the same settings, even if you power down. But my experience is that things just work better if they are not powered off.
DeleteBryan
Thanks again Bryan! I used the term Hibernate but it was just set to sleep. We do not have any HDMI distribution equipment - simply the cable laptop to projector and nothing is actually powered off. I have just noticed that the default videos folder can be changed, so I have set that to where the videos are stored and it makes it much quicker to reselect them just before the meeting. For now I will leave it at that, as we are getting dual TV monitors shortly - that will probably change things, so will worry about it all again then, if necessary.
DeleteI have come across what seems to be a repeatable bug, but I will raise that as a separate issue.

Allan

Dear Brother,
ReplyDeletethanks for your software.
I just wanted to try out v4.2 but unfortunately it tells me on startup that no sound engine or speakers are connected. With this error notice there is a windows sound coming out of my laptop. :P
I'm running on Windows 10 (Virtual Machine VMWare Fusion), latest updates installed on a Macbook Pro.
I run KMC this way too for testing, does the VM have a sound device that you can see in Control Panel > Sound > Playback?
DeleteYes there is one: "Speakers - High definition audio device".
DeleteI only have the N version of Windows 10 installed. So no Media Player and so on... Could that be causing problems?
DeleteHi Sebastian,
DeleteThat could be the issue, can you try this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3010081 ?

Hi Bryan.
ReplyDeleteGreat program! It's made our life so much easier in the sound box.
Quick question: Is it possible to display a .pdf file up on the screen, for example as a Public Talk title which stays on during the entire talk?
I notice that there are the options of: .jpg, .png, .bmp and .gif, but no .pdf, which many have given us to display at the last minute before a meeting....
Kind regards,

Hi Bryan
ReplyDeleteWithout seeming pushy, we would love to have the ability to display images... any idea when this will be included??

It's already in the program.
DeleteSee the "Remote Display" tab, choose an image and make it live.
I tried that but it keeps saying the program only detects 1 monitor but I have 3 connected... The video player recognises them..

Hi Bryan, many thanks for the KMC program. It is working great for us and has made the new meeting very smooth running - thank you. As a suggestion, would the Songs for the week be able to be picked up automatically for each of the meetings? The option to override would also be of help where needed. And are you thinking of adding any facility to do Timing of Talks etc? Program is great already and more than happy as it currently is.

Currently running SFC /scannow, but I have my doubts. Any ideas?
Hi Bryan,
ReplyDeleteI have noticed I get a repeatable error when playing "Other Music" (or Background Music). We have Other Music set to the orchestral version of the new songs and these are used background music so the brothers subconsciously become familiar with the melodies.
The problem occurs in this sequence of events:
Start Media Play, Select Other Music, Select a starting song, click Play - all is fine. Now click Stop (thanks for the 'fade' by the way!!) and the music stops. Click Play again and the 'unhandled exception' occurs.
Obviously no song is selected. If scheduled songs have been played previously, the message just says to select a song, but if Other Music has been started before any other songs are played, the error occurs and the Media Player has to be re-started.
The same issue occurs if Background Music is started first, played, stopped and played again or if the Song Stack is all cleared.
It is not a major issue, because if you stop playing Background or Other music you would not normally start it again straight away but just though I would let you know what was happening here.
Thanks for you hard work on this - it is an excellent program!

We are really happy with the features of the Program.
ReplyDeleteWe are thinking of displaying the yeartext. What is the best way to do this?
If we use remote display and then a Brothers want a picture displayed. we would have to reload the yeartext again?? Or is there a better way?

Hi Bryan, Firstly, thank you so much for the KMC software, it is such a useful tool. We do however seem to have a problem with recording the meetings. Whenever we try and record the meeting using KMC 4.2, we get the following error: 'Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore the error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.' 'Could Not Complete the operation due to error 8070000c' then there is a load of text in the detail, which I will attached following. If we check the file that has been recorded, it is 32kb in size. When we try and play it in an audio player, it just says that the file is not an mp3 file. Thanks in advance for your help / advice. The detail of the error follows. Hi Bryan,
ReplyDeleteYesterday I would like to replace the piano songs with new orchestra media.
In the .zip file, there are different file names, so I rename these files to right filename, example iasn_H_001.mp3, iasn_H_002.mp3 etc and copy to KMC directory. (for Hungarian)
But after it, the KMC exiting, when I try to start a song.
It's seems that somehow if file size is different than the original piano song file, it's couse a bug.
Tested on Windows 10.
Today I'll send a full error message about this.
Bryan & David,
ReplyDeleteWe are having the exact same problem. I think the issue is because maybe the ID3 tags are different in the new songs. We tried to simply rename the orchestra songs to match the piano but the software simply crashed. We are also using Windows 10. I didn't have time to try to troubleshoot it further myself (sorry).
I am having the same issue. For the present, I have the orchestral music installed as "Other Music"
ReplyDeleteI think we have the same issue and having to use Other Music for everything. If I try to use the song stack it just says 'some songs are not installed'. Changing the name and trying gives .Net crash andI have to reinstall the program.
ReplyDeleteThis is also on a different, temporary, laptop - the previous one was burnt out by lightening (along with the modem, mixer, amplifier, projector and most connecting cables!).
Part of the problem may be where it is looking for the music files. Where should they be?
Perhaps a nice enhancement for the app is to put under the settings the ability for the end user to specify the mask for song imports. Just a thought. We do appreciate the application works wonderful. Till your update we will continue to play the new songs through the "other song" type.
ReplyDeleteBrothers,
DeleteWe had the same problems with the new songs. We asked a Brother to solve the problem.. here is his comments and he fixed the problem
I have changed the file name to the “Old” file name, and replaced the underscore with a space in the song title, however, you may be able to get the files to play by only replacing the underscore with a space in the song title.
There are programs that ca be used to rename or replace potions of the file name and metadata.
I have used MP3Tag.
Here is a link to the changed files in Dropbox if you wish to use them...

Thank yo Brother, it's work, with a small correction:
Deletereplace the "_" with "- " (underscrore to hyphen + a space)
I am having this same issue as well. I will try the work around above.
DeleteWe are having a JIT debugging issue, When we open the video player this error comes up. We have the latest version installed. We have a HP Notebook windows 10.
ReplyDeleteWe are also getting this error. The message says to invoke (I think) JIT debugger. I don't know how to do this. I rolled back to version 4 and it seems to run fine. We are running Windows 10 pro on an Intel NUC i7. Thanks for the program it is marvelous and we love it. Thanks for your hard work.
ReplyDeleteBryan,
ReplyDeleteWe want to use your software at our KH for showing videos and for projecting images and the Year Text to the TVs. We have a Windows 10 laptop and are experiencing the same issue as others who have posted here. The videos will go to the TVs just fine from the Video Player. However, when we try to send the year text or other images from the main KMC program, they go to the screen of the laptop. In one of your posts, you suggested to try swapping the position of the monitors in the graphics settings. This works for my home computer which is Windows 7. However, with our Windows 10 computer at the KH it has no affect. It would appear that Windows 10 may be using a slightly different video address than Windows 7 for the second monitor. If you could just copy the dual monitor choice function that you have in the Video Player settings into the main KMC program settings, I think that would make this work for Windows 10. Whatever you did in the programming for the Video Player works for Windows 10, so duplicating the same code in the main KMC program should work there also. We really want to use the software, but the inability to send the year text and other images to the TVs prohibits us from being able to use it.
Thanks,
Gary
Upgraded to 4.3 and got Net Framework Unhandled Exception error
ReplyDeleteWill only work with 4.1 now.
Dave
Bryan,
ReplyDeleteWe got the problem with not being able to send images to the second monitor resolved. We had overlooked one important setting. The slider to enlarge the desktop icons was set at 150%. Moving it back to 100% resolved the problem. Now the text and images all go to the second monitor as needed.

Hi Bryan
ReplyDeleteOur congregation uses KMC and loves it. the operating committee have asked if there is any facility to link the application to an external digital clock, so we can show by the colour of the display how the time is going (green for OK, red for over)?
Is this possible in any way?
Thanks
Neil
I was wondering if there is a way to show the new songs lyrics on the monitors?
ReplyDeletethanks in advance!
This would be great. We found that the new songs on the website contain the lyrics with time codes. Thus would be wonderful to incorporate this into the app.
DeleteCan this program display song lyrics on monitors?
ReplyDeleteThank you brother for your hard work in maintaining this program.
ReplyDeleteRecently we began using the 'images' module of the application, but found that if brothers "accidentally" double-click or click the "->" button while the images are in transition, the entire app freezes. We're using this on a Windows 10 PC with dual VGA outputs.
Can you help? Thanks!
I was hoping you would be able to help or suggest a fix to an issue we are having when trying to use the Kingdom Media Center at our hall. We have an HP windows 10 PC that has a VGA and HDMI output. The VGA is being used for the monitor at the sound booth and the HDMI is being used for the display TV's. Windows automatically sets the HDMI as display 1 and the VGA as display 2 and there is no way I can find to change that setting. All other settings are set as specified on your website and we can play a video and it shows on the HDMI connected TV but when looking under settings for the player we cant select display 1, when we try it says you should not select your main monitor as the output. However display 2 is selected as the main monitor in windows settings. How can I resolve this issue? Or please let me know if you need additional information. Thank you
ReplyDeletehello brother, thanks for the hard work on this program. it is wonderful. i look forward to the upgrade that handles our new song list. in the mean time i'll use soundbox, but looking forward to that update. its a very useful and user friendly program this KMC. keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteafter reading up on KMC because i was recently introduced to just december gone, i realize that you have been in this a long time. well i will continue to use the video player since it is really easy to use. thanks again for all the years of KMC, it was a job well done.
