New orchestral songs may be available in your language. A new KMC release is needed in order to accommodate the new song naming convention. An announcement email will be sent to all who are on the update list just as soon as the new release is available. Estimate date for the release is 2/16 (next Tuesday, hopefully sooner). Normally I can address changes like this quicker, however I am away from my development machine for a few more days.

DeleteYou need to not hit enter before hitting the stack button.
For example, just type song 5 ad then hit the stack button. Then type 78, then hit the stack button, etc. There is a bug that if you hit enter after the number it comes up with that error.

How can we target the video at monitor #1 in windows. Win7 will not allow me to reassign monitor numbers, and the projector is always assigned as number 1. When i try to target that in KVP it tells me that it cannot play video at that target monitor.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried dragging the projector to monitor position 2? when you open display properties you should see two monitors. try clicking on projector display and move to right side. then click identify. it should then show as monitor two.
DeleteThe projector still identifies as monitor 1, moving them around has no impact on the numbering. I even unplugged and reinstalled the video driver with only the small monitor connected, and connected the projector afterward.
DeleteIt may be due to the projector running from a displayport and the small screen running on VGA. Windows might give priority. Trouble is, its a small PC so i cant just use a different graphics card. What about using a USB video card for the projector? Would that force it to be #2?

I also have the privilege of overseeing the sound in our circuit and would like to use the program in Convention and Assembly mode. When I try to switch to the convention mode and manage music I am asked for a password.
The Convention screen does load but it is partially hidden.

I nice option for the update would be to have in the settings the ability for the end user to put in the mask type. this would allow end users to be able to update the app based upon future releases without need for additional programming. The app is GREAT we like it very much.

ReplyDeleteAll your updates are working beautifully. We have 2 stage TV's, and 2 aux room TV's; all of which KMC recognizes as Monitor 2's, while we see the control panel on the PC monitor at the A/V cabinet. I set the yeartext as the wallpaper, and under settings, removed the taskbar from Mon 2 so it shows a clear display of the yeartext.
ReplyDeleteNow we have incorporated showing the pictures and review questions from the Watchtower. But it is a bit cumbersome. We tried 2 ways. Airplay the photos via an ipad; which works very well. Another brother made a powerpoint presentation for each lesson with a black screen between pictures. I also recently used the pictures from the article on "reaching out", before the video.
Is it possible to add a tab to stack pictures to display during the Watchtower and other parts where appropriate? This way we can stay IN the KMC to display videos or pictures, whatever the need may be

ReplyDeleteThank you for all your hard work on this release!! I just wanted to share some of my findings with the new update. Working with the songs tab: the song stack works fine. But if I want to play one song (not using song stack), I enter the number and hit "ENT" it will load the same song each time. For an example; I type 148 and hit "ENT" it will load and play Jehovah's Attributes. If I type 150 and hit "ENT" it will load and play Jehovah's Attributes. Basically any song number I type in, the program will only play Jehovah's Attributes. Any light you can shed on this would be appreciated.

Thanks for your efforts in this. It is a lot of work. I am having the same problem with the one song playing. Sometimes I can stack songs and sometimes it will not let me. I have tried on two different Win10 machines and am having the same inconsistencies. Also, the Branch sent a letter recently saying that 80 songs had been updated. I noticed you said 65.

DeleteThanks for the tip but that doesn't work either. I followed up with a possible fix but I think you are correct, earlier versions might work better. I still wonder if they will work with the music updates recently sent to the elders?
Still a great piece of software and look forward to using it once it is all patched up.

You can select the number and press Stop and then press Play and it will play the selected song. This is a workaround for now that I found to work okay.

DeleteI might have a solution for you, for my issue anyway. I mentioned it in the post above but songs won't stack or play properly. Recently the Branch sent a letter to the elders telling them there was 80 updated songs. They also said there was a Zip file with all 150 songs in it. This file should be downloaded and used going forward. It made mention that the songs being used up until now should no longer be used. I am using that 150 song zip file. The songs that have been updated have an m after the name, ie. 150_snm, 128_snp. I could not stack 148, 149 and 150. When I downloaded from the website they worked now. If I use the songs from the zip file sent to the elders, it will not work. I'm having other issues playing songs but I would think it would be the naming problem also.

ReplyDeleteI was able to use the elder file. Here's what I did. I manually deleted all old files in music folder. Then I, again manually, unzipped complete "Congregation Accompaniment" into music folder. I don't know if it's just me but program seemed to have less error messages without the duplicate songs in folder. But I really didn't have much time b4 meeting to play with it.
ReplyDeleteThe bug is still there when pressing ENT button. I just told our sound guys to press play directly or stack the songs. I got a big postit that says DO NOT PRESS ENT. All songs seem to stack correctly with no problem. I tried rolling back to 4.2 but 4.2 wont recognize "Congregation Accompaniment" files. It's a great program and our brothers love it! Thanks again.
You can select the number and press Stop and then press Play and it will play the selected song. This is a workaround for now that I found to work okay.
DeleteFor now what we did was, just dowload the to songs for the memorial on to 4.2. It will work, and went the brother find the bug just upgrade. I am pretty sure it will get sort it out. We can continue using the piano version for now.

just upgraded to 4.3 KMC and now when I go to play just 1 song (type in number, hit ENT, click play) it will only play song #1. If I add a song to the queue, then click it, it will play like it should. Have you seen this issue? Thank you!

Then I have to log in there and follow same procedure which then will allow me to properly download Event Media Selection. Just curious why a double log in? Am I doing something wrong?

ReplyDeleteWe too suffered from the "only Song No. 1" bug in Vesion 4.3. This seems to be fixed in ver 4.3.1
Yet, there is another issue that needs to be adressed. At least in the German Version of the orchestral music as well as the new songs 136-150, the zip files extract to a separate folders:
C:\KMC Support\Music\X\iasnm_X.mp3\
and
C:\KMC Support\Music\X\snnw_X.mp3\
That is because the newer zip files were packed differently than what it used to be. You can see that because now there are also __MACOSX folders and .DS-Store files present.
You have to move the song mp3 files up to the main folder C:\KMC Support\Music\X\ in order to have KMC working properly.
Right now, in German the songs for the memorial, 147 and 149 are available but not 146 and 150. KMC does only support that max number option, but not missing songs in between. We fix that by simply renaming the English songs to snnw_X_146.mp3 ad 149.
Also there is that other file available in the download event media section for elders and ministerial sevants:
Congregation_Accompaniment_X.mp3.zip,
which contains files with a different naming scheme than the public files. The music seems to be the same though. Would be nice if KMC supports that file too, so one does not have to download the official mp3s again. Our network connection in the hall is not so fast.

4.3.1 still has issues. The song picker is all over the place. Sometimes I can play a song, sometimes I can't. Sometimes I can load one, two, or even all three songs into the stack. Sometimes I can't even get one in. It stops being able to pick songs after the first or second most times, it just keeps loading the same song over and over. If you hit clear enough you can usually get the songs loaded. It feels like an array/cache isn't clearing.

ReplyDeleteNow the image picker is causing the program to lock up. We will have to stop using for the time being. We are on a very vanilla Windows 10 install. Reinstalled the app several times. Have the same issues on my Windows 7 machine at home too.
ReplyDelete4.3.1 seems to work well for music and videos but we still have Monitor issues (Win 10). We have found that the projector has to be turned on before KMC is started, otherwise it will not detect the second monitor for the Video player function. Is there a way to set KMC so that it knows there is a second monitor, without the projector actually being turned on first? (Otherwise the projector is running through the whole meeting, even if the video is at the end)
ReplyDeleteA second problem is when we select Remote Display to show still images, it says there is no second monitor, even though the video player has already detected the second monitor and used it. If the program is closed and reopened (in the hope of it seeing the second monitor for still images) it gives a .Net error and will not work at all. Repeated tries give the same result and we have to resort to a phone or tablet to play the music or a video. Is anyone else having this problem, or is there something else we need to do to get this to work?
The functionality of this program is excellent, but the continuing monitor detection issues are proving a problem. Any help to get our set-up right would be very much appreciated.

ReplyDeleteHello... We have been running the KMC for just around a month now. Our issue is that our wallpaper on our TVs and laptop are the years text in multiple languages, but when we put up a video, or still image, the screen just goes black after the video or image is cleared off the screen. We then have to either close the video player window or shut down the whole program in order for the screens to go back to the wallpaper. Is there a setting I'm missing when setting this up? I found a setting in the video player which tells it to go back to the wallpaper but it doesn't seem to work? Please help!

We have now purchased a small Win 10 tablet to run this amazing program for our meetings. I thank you for adding the ability to build a list of images for use through Remote Display. The program recognizes the second screen with no problem. Everything is working well. But, I have two questions/requests.

Hey Bryan, I have been ecstatic since I found this app. As an LDC Sound Dept. volunteer, I saw it being installed during a remodel, with video upgrade to the TV monitors. I was blown away! So, I built a computer to use at the Hall, installed it from an extracted jump-file. When I opened it, I got an "unhandled exception" error. I pressed "Continue" and went on to the app, downloaded the music files, then restarted the app to check for "Auto Background", and that's when the trouble started. Eventually, after employing aggravating work-arounds, I thought I had my problem solved enough to try the Video Media Center app. I couldn't get the monitor ID's to work, no matter how many drag-n-drop procedures. It just wouldn't. I closed the app, and restarted the system. Now, I get the error message, and the blue oval identifier, but the app won't open. I have researched the error message, and followed a number of suggestions, but so far, nothing works. I'd appreciate any assistance from the community that I can get. I'd like to use it in the morning for the meeting.

ReplyDeleteThank you for all your hard work on this excellent program. It is used in our Kingdom Hall with great success for all the theocratic songs. It works really well.
One area that we do struggle with, is the same as the poster above (Chris D). This is regards the video playback. The idea is genius! It will save so much time and reduces the chance of operator error.
The issue that we too have, is that when the video plays to the extended screen, it cuts out and is choppy every few seconds. Using our default player (VLC) or Windows Media player itself to play the files works fine.
This is the only area we have problems with using the program. Our PC is running Windows 7 and is updated to the latest version of Kingdom Media Center (4.3.1).

Please add the ability to point the music and videos to another drive. Not all computers are setup with a ginormous c drive. In fact our C drive is SSD and small. The data drive is 1TB.
ReplyDeleteThe video player doesn't return the background after stopping a video. It returns neither to the regular windows background, nor does it return to the text loaded in the images tab.
Also the program doesn't run very well without internet connectivity. Our user profiles are very restricted. Please provide a list of all websites (other than jw.org and akamaihd.net) that the software needs to connect to so we can create exceptions for it.
Also after downloading all the music files in French, the software just crashes over and over. please contact me off list to discuss programming help

Yet, when I open KMC Video Player and put a video in the playlist, I get a JIT error and the Video Player closes down. I am running Windows 10.
Nevermind, I needed to select the right audience monitor. Had quite a few Win 10 updates to do also.

I was giving a talk at a neighboring congregation and they were looking for a program like this so I downloaded it for them. It works for the songs but when I click on the Video player it opens in a small little window and I cant resize the window all I can do is Minimize or maximize the window but we can not see the play buttons we can only see from the top to the second video tab. I have tried everything I could think of to resolve this problem but have not been able have you run into anything like this any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. They are running Windows 7

Hi Brother, I attempted to download your program and it reported that there is a severe virus associated with the zip file. Is this normal? The trojan is called: Spursint.A!cl which is reported to be quite a severe piece of malware. Let me know if my Defender is a joke :-)
